Three of our favourite songs:

1. Mutual Benefit, Lost Dreamers. A lush folk-pop ode to restless souls who can’t wait leave the rest of the world behind. “Let’s throw away our phones,” suggests Jordan Lee, also known as Mutual Benefit. From his album, Skip a Sinking Stone, released on May 20.

2. Boogie Howser, Purple Clouds In July. A psy-fi electronic number punctuated by agitated beats, calliope-like synths, and soothing ambient waves — a divine prescription from Edmonton’s doctor of the dance floor. From his upcoming EP, Tidal Haze, available May 27 on local label Drama Hands. Grab it via digi.dramahands.club.

3. Keith Urban, Sun Don’t Let Me Down featuring Nile Rodgers and Pitbull. I never thought I’d want to listen to a Pitbull song. Or an Urban song, for that matter. So I blame Chic guitarist Nile Rodgers, who adds his effortless funk to this country-flavoured pop number from Urban’s latest album, Ripcord. (Only his twang and a few strums from a six-string banjo make this song remotely Nashville-friendly.) Urban performs Sept. 16 at Rogers Arena. Tickets are sold out.
